March 2025
Congratulations to Southeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership, Inc. (SENCA) and SENCA Casa for Pawnee City Chamber of Commerce business of the month for March!
SENCA is a private non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation incorporated on May 2, 1966, with its headquarters located in Humboldt, NE. SENCA offers a wide range of services that are aimed at the reduction of poverty, the revitalization of low-income communities, and the empowerment of low-income individuals and families to become self-sufficient. The services and activities offered have a measurable and potentially major impact on causes of poverty in the community. SENCA works with participants to increase and improve their skills, knowledge, and motivations to secure the opportunities needed for them to become self-sufficient.
CASA on the other hand, stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASA supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so that every abused and neglected child can be safe, establish permanence, and have the opportunity to thrive. To be a CASA volunteer, you must make a one-year minimum commitment to the program. Every volunteer must pass a criminal background check and abuse registry check and participate in a 30-hour pre-service training program tailored to suit volunteers’ schedules. They work approximately 6-10 hours per month with their assigned child.
